#nowthatsludacris

Ludacris has been involved with music since he was about 9 years old. Right after graduating college, he interned at a local radio station and was known as Chris Lova Lova. Since then, he has worked with the biggest names in music and has released countless of albums that have been a great part of his successful career. Not only that, he is an entrepreneur and an actor as well. With the rise of Web 2.0, most celebrities have a presence on social media, whether it’s themselves controlling it or another person managing the activity.

Ludacris has a big presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. According to the Way back Machine, Ludacris started using Facebook and Twitter in 2009. He later appeared on Instagram in 2013. The Way back Machine doesn’t have a lot of accurate times for when he used his social media accounts, because this online system does not get notified whenever he updates on either platform. I went back about 3 months or so and noticed that he updates at least 3 times a day, every day. Two reasons for why he updates so frequently is because Furious 7 was being promoted and he had a new album coming out.

Since he is personally active on these social media sites, he likes to interact with fans, which is great. Twitter is especially convenient for this because it allows celebrities to reach out to their fans in a convenient way. One thing that Ludacris is popular for is with his use of the hashtag ‘now that’s ludacris’. With this, he uploads a hilarious photo or video and uses that hashtag along with it. He uploads the content on all 3 sites, which is a great example of how social media can be intertwined. A downfall to this though is that if you are active on these 3 sites as well, you see the same thing constantly.

Many celebrities have other people manage their social media, while others are in full of control of their own stuff. Ludacris is one of the latter. He updates each site himself. One example is how he interacts with fans on twitter. When he replies to a tweet, he responds in first person, like thanking them for everything or simply answering a question. He is always thanking his fans for everything they do and the support they show day in and day out. With the big release of Furious 7, you could really see the humble side of him through these mediums.

That’s the great thing about Web 2.0. The way people can communicate and interact with each other. I think Ludacris is doing great with how he uses web 2.0 sites. If he keeps up with how popular it continues to get, he will do great. It seems like he has a handle on things and knows how to really use these sites, the right way. He uses it for entertainment, personal, and inspirational purposes.
