Web 2.0 is something our generation knows quite well, it allows us to connect with people from all over the world, share media of all forms over various platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. So what’s the difference between Web 1.0 and 2.0 you ask? Well remember when being in elementary school and you had to wait for content to load for a million years and you finally lost interest? 2.0 has fixed so many things 1.0 didn’t have to offer – such as enhanced user experience, creation of user rich content (memes are life) and the video bloggers who share everything from light hearted comical videos, all the way to more serious social events. So why is web 2.0 so important to me? If I were to lose some of the characteristics such as connection from people all over the world in such quick manner, I probably would lose it. I spend the majority of my day on social media and it’s really nice to be able to connect with friends everywhere planning trips, and meet-ups and social media has made that extremely easy to do so with almost immediate responses. It’s allowed me to get creative in my writing, creating and thinking when it comes to topics of discussion and yes, I am an avid user of memes and gifs!
So the next time you are on the internet and really take in to consideration what web 2.0 has allowed you to accomplish. What does it really mean to you, would you be able to live with out it?
