The internet truly is one of mankind’s greatest inventions. It has provided instant connectivity to almost anywhere in the world, endless information and knowledge (whether true or false) is at your fingertips, and has reshaped economies, communication, and education. It’s a world of freedom and anonymity, and unfortunately big corporations and businesses have been pushing to exploit this.
Our personal information isn’t just online for everyone to see, but it’s the selling of information that is so disturbing. The House of Representatives recently passed a bill, undoing Obama’s internet privacy law. This new bill gives ISP’s (Internet Service Providers) the right to sell your personal information including internet browsing history.
We need to fight this. The internet is a place of freedom. One of the few places where anyone can be anyone. Please, do your part. Write your congressman. Let them know that this is wrong. For Utah citizens, here’s representative Jason Chaffetz office address and phone number. Stand for your rights of freedom and anonymity.
